Windsurf is relatively new sport. It belongs to a group of extreme sports. It was included in the Olympic games calendar in 1984. Not many sports are as attractive, dynamic and beautiful as windsurfing is.
There are several international associations that organize competitions in windsurfing and other activities. The most famous such associations are: ISAF – in charge of all sailing sports, IFCA – in charge of whole Funboard production. The latter gathers national associations. Of all ex YU republics, only national associations of Croatia and Slovenia are members of this association. Funboard class is very popular. Standard disciplines are: RACE, SLALOM, etc. The most famous producers of windsurfing equipment are: Mistral, Bic, Fanatic, Tiga, Starboard, Neil Pryde, North sails...

WHEN BYING EQUIPMENT IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT THE VOLUME OF THE BOARD (in liters) SHOULD SUIT YOUR WEIGHT AND YOUR SKILL IN SAILING. IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT FOR BEGINNERS TO HAVE A BOARD WITH ADDITIONAL FLIPPER (DAGGERBOARD).
